You install a Hozard alarm system yourself in five steps. You place the panel, connect the app, place and pair the sensors, put a SIM card in the panel with the PIN lock off, and test everything. For all packages except the 4G Alarm System, the product page says installation takes no more than 15 minutes. With Hozard there is no mandatory subscription and no monthly fee.

For the 4G Alarm System and Packages A, A Plus, B, C and D, we send short instruction videos on request. If you are still unsure about your choice, read Which alarm system suits you?.
Step 1: where do you put the panel, and how do you switch it on?
Put the control panel in the middle of the house, so the signal from all sensors comes in well. Put it close to the Wi-Fi router. Do not mount anything on metal surfaces or against load-bearing walls. With Package B, C and D you use a mounting plate: on the wall with two screws, or on a table as a stand.
With Package A, A Plus, B, C, D and the 4G Alarm System, you switch on the battery switch on the back the first time you use it. With S Pro and X Pro you connect the power adapter. If the light does not flash, set the on/off switch under the back cover to ON.
Step 2: how do you connect the panel to the app?
Download your package's app from the App Store or Google Play and create an account.
With the Smart Life app:
- The panel only works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Connect your phone to that network too.
- Put the panel in Wi-Fi pairing mode. On Package A that is Menu, Settings, WiFi and then Airlink. On Package B, C and D it is Main menu, WiFi settings and One-click configuration. On the 4G Alarm System it is Connection, WiFi and then Airlink.
- In the app, tap Home, then the plus at the top right and choose Add Device. On Package A you then choose Sensors and Alarm (WiFi).
- Enter the password of your 2.4 GHz network and finish with Done.
If your router does not work with quick setup, choose SoftAP or hotspot setup.
With S Pro and X Pro, you scan the QR code on the underside of the hub in Helio Pro, with Bluetooth on. Then you set a 4-digit PIN code, which you use on the keypad, and choose whether the hub connects through the network cable (LAN) or over Wi-Fi.
Step 3: how do you place and pair sensors and detectors?
With S Pro and X Pro, the sensors that come with the system are already paired, so you only need to fix them in place. S Pro contains 4 door and window sensors, 2 motion sensors, 2 remote controls, 2 RFID tags, 1 keypad and 1 hub (the control panel). X Pro contains 8 door and window sensors, 4 motion sensors, 1 smoke detector, 2 remote controls, 2 RFID tags, 1 keypad and 1 hub. With the other packages you place and pair them yourself.
Door and window sensor:
- Clean the spot and stick double-sided tape on the underside of the transmitter (large) and the magnet (small).
- Stick them apart from each other, the transmitter on the fixed part and the magnet on the moving part. The triangles point at each other.
- Keep them close together. The maximum distance is in the manual.
- Open the door or window. If the light comes on for 2 seconds, the sensor works.
Motion sensor:
- Mount it at a height of 2.0 to 2.2 metres, in a corner or on a flat wall, with nothing in the way.
- Do not point it at warm or cold air flows or at sources of heat or cold.
- Screw the bracket in place first and then hang the sensor on the swivel mount.
Pull out the insulation strip at the battery.
You pair in the app under Accessories and the plus, or on the panel in the Accessories menu. Then activate the sensor, for example by pulling the two parts of the door sensor apart or by moving in front of the motion sensor until the light comes on. While pairing, keep the panel, phone and sensor close together.
For each sensor you also choose when it triggers the alarm. Set smoke and gas detectors to 24 hours active, so they always raise the alarm.
Step 4: how do you insert the SIM card with the PIN lock turned off?
Every control panel works with a 4G SIM card. Without Wi-Fi you get alerts by SMS and phone call (GSM). Only with the 4G Alarm System does the app also work over 4G. If the Wi-Fi or the network cable (LAN) drops on S Pro or X Pro, the hub switches to 4G after about 1 minute, as long as it has a valid SIM card, for calls and SMS only.
- Turn off the PIN lock on the SIM card, for example by putting the card in another phone for a moment.
- Insert the SIM card in the SIM slot. Package A and A Plus have a slot for a micro SIM card, the 4G Alarm System a slot for a nano SIM card. With S Pro and X Pro, switch the hub off first. The slot there is under the back cover, in the battery compartment, and takes micro SIM cards.
- Wait at least 5 minutes for the panel to find the mobile network.
Then set up your emergency numbers. On every panel you can set up to 10 phone numbers. With Package A V2.1 you choose for each number whether the panel calls it or sends it an SMS. With Package B, C and D you switch calling and SMS on or off for each number. The FAQ also explains the SIM card.
How do you test that everything works?
- Arm and disarm the system through the app and with the remote control, and check that the status changes with it.
- Open every door or window with a sensor and check that the light comes on for 2 seconds.
- Set off the alarm once with a sensor. Check that you get a notification, SMS or call.
- If you get no call, check that an emergency number is set and that the panel is armed.
