How does an alarm system without a subscription work?

With Hozard there is no mandatory subscription and no monthly fee. The control panel sends alerts straight to your own phone, through the app, by SMS or by phone call, and the siren sounds in the house. For SMS and calls you put a 4G SIM card in the panel yourself, with prepaid credit or your own plan. The app works over Wi-Fi, and with S Pro and X Pro also over a network cable. Only with the 4G Alarm System does the app also work over 4G.

What does the alarm system do by itself?

With a Hozard system you pay once for the package. The alerts arrive on your own phone.

When the alarm goes off, this happens:

• The siren sounds.
• You get a notification on your smartphone.
• With a SIM card in the panel, you also get an SMS or a phone call.

On every panel you can set up to 10 phone numbers. With Package A V2.1 you choose for each number whether the panel calls it or sends it an SMS. With Package A V2.1, A Plus V2.1, B V2, C V2.1 and D V2 you can also set up a silent alarm. The 4G Alarm System does not have this. With a silent alarm you only get a notification in the app and the siren stays quiet.

With the 4G Alarm System, the panel first sends SMS messages to the numbers you have set up, in the order you set them up. Then it starts calling, beginning with the first number. If someone picks up, the remaining numbers are not called.

What do you need for the app and Wi-Fi?

For the app of most packages you need a Wi-Fi network. S Pro and X Pro also work over a network cable. Their app is called Helio Pro; the other packages use the Smart Life app. You connect the Package A V2.1 panel to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

With the app you arm and disarm the system, view notifications and change settings. You can also operate the alarm without your phone. Depending on the package, you use a remote control, an RFID tag or a PIN code for that.

Which SIM card do you need?

Every control panel works with a 4G SIM card. You choose it yourself, with prepaid credit or your own plan. To send SMS messages and make calls, the SIM card needs an active plan or enough credit.

To insert the SIM card:

1. Turn off the PIN lock on the SIM card, for example by putting the card in another phone for a moment.
2. Insert the SIM card in the panel.
3. Wait at least 5 minutes for the panel to find the mobile network and get a signal.

Once the panel is connected, you receive alerts by phone call or SMS. Package A V2.1 and A Plus V2.1 have a slot for a micro SIM card. With S Pro and X Pro, switch the hub off first. The SIM slot there is under the back cover, in the battery compartment, and takes micro SIM cards.

What happens if the Wi-Fi drops?

Every control panel works with a 4G SIM card. Without Wi-Fi you get alerts by SMS and phone call (GSM). This applies to Package A V2.1, A Plus V2.1, B V2, C V2.1, D V2, S Pro and X Pro. With these packages the app works over Wi-Fi, and with S Pro and X Pro also over a network cable. If the Wi-Fi or the network cable (LAN) drops on S Pro or X Pro, the hub switches to 4G after about 1 minute, as long as it has a valid SIM card, for calls and SMS only.

Only with the 4G Alarm System does the app also work over 4G, so you can arm and disarm the alarm in the app without Wi-Fi. That system supports the European 4G bands B1, B3, B5, B7, B8 and B20. The product information names the 4G Alarm System for, among others, campervans, boats, stables and warehouses, which are places without a stable internet connection.

Which packages are there?

Hozard has eight packages. You install them all yourself and use them without a mandatory subscription from Hozard.

Package C V2.1 and D V2 come with cameras, and Package A Plus V2.1 comes with an outdoor camera with a solar panel and two indoor cameras. You can add cameras to the other packages. S Pro contains 4 door and window sensors, 2 motion sensors, 2 remote controls, 2 RFID tags, 1 keypad and 1 hub (the control panel). X Pro contains 8 door and window sensors, 4 motion sensors, 1 smoke detector, 2 remote controls, 2 RFID tags, 1 keypad and 1 hub.
